Mediterranean Folklore – Compagnia Daltrocanto, concert open to the community

The situation affecting the beautiful and industrious land of Romagna is extremely serious and still not fully perceived. Thousands of people remain without homes, the agricultural sector has been brought to its knees, and severely damaged infrastructure needs to be rebuilt.

For this reason, the Municipality of Pollica, the Future Food Institute and Gusto involved the communities of the Lands of the Mediterranean Diet and the UNESCO Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park to provide tangible support by raising the funds needed to restore municipal vegetable gardens and school gardens in some of the municipalities affected by the floods in Romagna, while caring for the land and biodiversity.

The initiative is supported by Coldiretti, Campagna Amica, Filiera Italia, Mater Agro, I Love Italian Food, Legacoop Agroalimentare, Legambiente Campania, BCC Monte Pruno, San Salvatore 1988, Consorzio del Prosecco DOC, Associazione Italiana Sommeliers Campania, Nicola Palma, Bottega di Dama, Certified Origins, De Nigris, Montanari & Gruzza, Cooperativa Nuovo Cilento, while additional generous partners are progressively joining the initiative and the restoration work, which is expected to begin in early September.

The convivial gathering will bring together mayors, institutions, representatives of Italian culture and cuisine, farmers, chefs, fishermen, athletes, artists, advocates of the “Mediterranean Way of Life”, and ambassadors of the Mediterranean Diet.

It will be a celebration of the cultural heritage of Italian food and agriculture, forming an integral part of the Mediterranean Festival program taking place in Pioppi and Acciaroli from July 7 to 9, almost as if to reinforce the strong message launched by Gusto in its issue dedicated to the Lands of the Mediterranean Diet, entitled “We Are All Mediterranean.”

The event will be accompanied by the sounds of Mediterranean folklore performed by Compagnia Daltrocanto and by the words of the renowned poet and “paesologo” Franco Arminio.
